Target Audience: 6-12 Science and Social Science Teachers

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTON:
This workshop will take place aboard Living Lands & Waters floating classroom, barges, and aluminum plate boats. Weather and river permitting, the morning session will take place inside the classroom with the afternoon spent in plate boats visiting various points of interest along the river.
The goal of this workshop is to familiarize the audience with the history and current status of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers by covering a variety of topics addressing the changes that these rivers have experienced over the last century. Those in attendance will learn and see firsthand these ancient rivers, the ways these rivers have changed over time, and how these changes have affected the plant, animal, and human lives that they support.
TOPICS TO BE COVERED :
The Natural History of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, the cultural history of these Rivers, big river systems as Natural Resources, Recreational and Commercial Uses of the River, Impacts to River Ecology, River Stewardship, and MUCH MORE!!!

Sorry, we cannot offer any college credit for this workshop.
Illinois Teachers: 6 CPDUs of credit. All paperwork will be made available on the day of the workshop.
