Workshop Title: The Ohio River: Past and Present

Workshop Meeting Location: Municipal Docks, Evansville
Time: 10a-5p, but we encourage you to arrive early for a tour of the Living Lands & Waters barges!!!

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

This two-day workshop will take place aboard Living Lands & Waters floating classroom, barges, and aluminum plate boats. Weather and river permitting, the morning session will take place inside the classroom with the afternoon spent in plate boats visiting various points of interest along the river.

The goal of this workshop is to familiarize the audience to the Ohio River by covering a variety of topics addressing the changes that this river has experienced over the last century. Those in attendance will learn and see firsthand this ancient river, how the river has changed over time, and how these changes have affected the plant, animal, and human lives that it supports.

TOPICS TO BE COVERED

The History of the Ohio River, the Ohio River as a Natural Resource, Recreational and Commercial Uses of the River, Impacts to River Ecology, River Stewardship, and MUCH MORE!!!

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO LL&W BARGE IN EVANSVILLE, INDIANA

Our barge will be tied up next to the LST and Municipal Docks and Marina in Evansville, on the Southeastern side of town. We will pick up via jon boat all cleanup volunteers and workshop participants at the municipal docks.

From the North:

• Take I-64 to US 41 S.
• Follow US 41 S. into Evansville
• Take the Lloyd Expressway Exit, heading west
• Follow the Lloyd Expressway to Fulton Avenue
• Take a left, heading south on Fulton Avenue
• Fulton Avenue turn s into Riverside Drive and goes past Casino Aztar and Dress Plaza.
• Continue on past Museum on Riverside Dr.
• Go down to stoplight at Riverside Drive and Adams Ave.
• Turn right onto Waterworks Rd.
• Go south past Evansville Waterworks and Inland Marina, turn onto gravel drive for Marina Point
• Continue on to Marina Point and LST Dock

From the South:

• Take US 41 north into Indiana
• Turn onto I-164, Veterans Memorial Parkway west
• This brings you all the way to the stoplight at Riverside Drive and Adams Ave.
• Turn left onto Waterworks Road
• Go south past Evansville Waterworks and Inland Marina, turn onto gravel drive for Marina Point
• Continue on to Marina Point and LST Dock
