Target Audience: Agriculture Teachers, Students, Leaders of Farm Organizations and Businesses
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
This workshop will take place aboard Living Lands & Waters floating classroom, barges, and aluminum plate boats. Weather and river permitting, the morning session will take place inside the classroom with the afternoon spent in plate boats visiting various points of interest along the river.
The goal of this workshop is to familiarize the audience with the relationship between the river and the agricultural industry. Topics related to its history and current status, navigation on the river, mitigation efforts to control the impact to the river and technology behind it. Those in attendance will learn and see firsthand the ways this river has changed over time, and how these changes have affected the plant, animal, and human lives that it supports.
TOPICS TO BE COVERED
The Natural History of the Mississippi River, the cultural history of this river, the river as a Natural Resource, Recreational and Commercial Uses of the River, Impacts to River Ecology, River Stewardship, and MUCH MORE!!!

Meeting Location: Pavilion near boat ramp at Sunset Park, Rock Island, IL
From Iowa-
Follow most direct route towards Davenport, Iowa. Take I-280 East over the Mississippi River towards Illinois. Take exit HWY 92East towards downtown Rock Island. Then, take the 18 th Avenue exit, make a LEFT at the bottom of the ramp and follow all the way to the river, just after the Rock Island Boat Club sign. There is a large parking lot, a two-story wooden gazebo and boat ramp. Meet under the brown brick pavilion near the boat ramp.
From Illinois-
