Since Living Lands & Waters cant be everywhere we are calling on you to help us out. We are looking for groups to follow in our footsteps, and organize a group to clean your local area. Have you always wanted to help out your community and you could never find a way to get started? Here is your chance to organize a group! Following the steps below to get off to a good start. Please remember while the booklets are free, we are a not-for-profit organization, and we would appreciate any kind of funding to help defray the cost of our Community Cleanup handouts.
Ten Steps to making your local river a cleaner place:
- Create a steering committee
- Appoint a Coordinator
- Scout the cleanup area (terrain, boat ramps, and roads)
- Get Fundraising from local businesses and recognize them
- Make a volunteer committee to recruit, speak at group meetings, and review safety
- Use publicity (Press releases, Fliers, Radio, and call media places)
- Food for volunteers (water, donuts,& lunch) contact local grocery stores
- Equipment (Gloves, Bags, Shovels, Pry bars, and cutting tools)
- Find place for acquired trash
- Always thank the volunteers for there help
