Who?
Living Lands & Waters, MidAmerican Energy, and the Dallas County Conservation Board are looking for volunteers of all ages!!! (Minors will need to be accompanied by an adult.)
To Do What?
We need help planting native oak saplings as part of MidAmerican's Trees for Electronic Billing Program. For every 5 customers they have switch to electronic billing, MidAmerican pledges to plant 1 tree. For the 2010 season, we have 5,868 trees to plant.
When?
The tree planting event will happen in 2 shifts, 9:00a-12:00p and then 1:00p-4:00p, on Friday, May 6th. You may volunteer for one shift or all day!
**If you are with Wells Fargo, please ONLY register internally through Wells Fargo's volunteer site. DO NOT register through this site. The Wells Fargo coordinator will then share your registration information with us in case we need to contact you last minute due to any change of plans, cancellations, etc. Please be assured that your information will not be shared with any third parties!**

Where?
The tree planting will take place on Dallas County Conservation Board land, part of the Kuehn County Conservation area, north of Earlham, Iowa (35-40 minutes west from downtown Des Moines). Click here to view an aerial map of the planting area. Exact driving directions to the site are as follows:
From downtown
- Take I-80 West (15-20 miles)
- Take Exit 104, for Earlham/Dallas County/I Avenue
- Take a RIGHT at the end of the ramp, heading north on I Avenue
- Take your 2nd LEFT onto Bear Creek Road
- Follow Bear Creek around a 90 degree turn and continue straight
- Bear Creek Road will soon turn left but continue STRAIGHT onto HOUSTON TRAIL ROAD
- After passing a cemetery on your LEFT, look for signs/people directing you to parking.
- A shuttle bus will then bus you to/from the planting site, just a mile away.

What Will be Provided?
Living Lands & Waters will provide the following but you may bring your own:
- Gloves
- Shovels
- Bottled water - BUT PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN REFILLABLE BOTTLE!
- Lunch
- Sunscreen
- Bug Spray
- Anti-Bacterial Lotion
What to Wear?
We REQUIRE that all volunteers wear long pants and closed-toed shoes, preferably a boot or old pair tennis shoes. Comfortable layers are recommended. If there is a chance of rain, we recommend you bring rain coats and/or rain gear. You may also want to consider bringing a change of clothes to change into after the tree planting is over (in case you get really dirty or wet).
